we've had a flock of 3 hens in the backyard for one year this month - one looks like she has an early caught case of bumble foot. i have been reading in the forums and various online searches to clean area with betadine. i purchased a bottle from a local farm store, but the label says "not for use on food producing animals" ...should i just use it anyway and not eat the eggs for a month or so?

I've used betadine for bumblefoot and injuries and have eaten eggs afterwards...still here typing.

Me too.

i've since read that betadine causes a reaction in people allergic to seafood...so maybe that was what the warning was about? anyway, the chicken vet said that since it is topical - there is probably nothing to worry about in the eggs, but eat at own risk. thank you
