Betty White has a pale, floppy comb

Looks like the left side??
We always refer to the chicken when we note which side. When a nurse asks you which arm you want your shot in, and you tell them the left arm, do you think she will shoot the arm that she sees on her left? That would disappoint you if she shot you in your right arm, now wouldn't it?

@azygous Thank you for all of your help with Betty. We continued with the Aqua Mox, calcium, and soft food and fluids. My husband unexplainably took over care for her, but opted not to tube feed. He thought he was making headway with her, but Ms. White passed this afternoon. I do believe she was so far gone, but man, she was a fighter.

I appreciate all of your help, now and always ❤️

Yes, she did fight, and you fought for her. But it's always sad when we lose the fight.
*GRAPHIC NECROPSY PHOTOS*

That is true 🙁

My husband did a necropsy. He said that that he saw bruising on her lungs, and that the tip of her lungs looked infected. He said that when he opened her up, that her cavity appeared swollen.

He said that an organ that he thought was the spleen was ruptured, it had a ground up look to it. He wasn’t sure if it was the spleen, it was right above her lungs.

He also said that her crop had the food he had been feeding her. He didn’t see any worms anywhere.

We’re trying to look at these things as teaching moments that can help us moving forward with our flock, so we’re still learning. Thank you from all of Lynn’s Hens ❤️
