Beware Of Tunneling Skunks!!! (Graphic Pictures)

Wondering if that hole was made by another digger and the skunk used it to it's advantage.
Soft mud may be easier to dig thru?
Hole seems small for a skunk.

Definitely kill it, and reset trap because there may be more.
Did you set trap inside run or outside?
Skunks are way smaller than people think - in my other post I mentioned how they go right through chain link fences... I think they can scrunch up their skeletons like a damn cat lol.... little a holes.

Just wanted to post, to warn you all about skunks being able to tunnel into your chicken runs.

I hope you can catch it and kill it!
I am sorry about your loss.

True, I've seen one go through 2" x 4" welded wire.

So sorry for your loss. I had an issue several years ago and a skunk was digging under the gate to my chick/grow-out coop pen. I had forgot to shut the pop door and it was closed just enough that some of the chicks couldn't get inside and when I realized it I went out and there was a skunk attempting to dig under the gate to their pen. I stomped my feet at the skunk and it turned towards me and stomped it's feet at me. I went into the house and got my gun and went back out and attempted to scare the skunk off and again it stomped it's feet at me, it seemed persistent. I shot it and put a bucket over it until I could deal with it in the morning. I was able to let the chicks in their coop.

The hole wasn't in the yard the day before yesterday. So I'm not sure if another animal made it. The hole is larger then pictured.

The dirt is still quite solid under the top layer of mud, my shoes didn't sink in like they have before.
That run will be getting leaves put in it soon, so I won't have to worry about the mud.

I set the trap outside the run, near the fence.

The deed was done a little while ago, & it was an extra stinky one. Had to throw our hoodies, & coats in the wash, the wind carried the spray mist, & we got alittle. Non on our pants at least.
