I have biels. We really enjoy the breed. They are super friendly but they are big eaters.................... like gluttons. My rooster can be handled very easily. Never an issue with my Biels. I live in middle Georgia. They seem to take the heat fairly well considering their size.

I'm looking to add some Rhodebars with my Biels

Gunslinger33: I'm in middle Georgia also. Where did you purchase your Bielefelders from? I had 3 in the past, bad experience with breeder's stock.

Hello! I'm looking into Bielefelders for our homestead here in north Idaho. They look like a very promising dual-purpose breed from what I can find online. I'd like to know about how old Biels have to get to weigh in the 5 lb range. Does anyone have 16-20 week weight averages for Bielefelders? Thanks!

I have only butchered one Bielefelder roo so far, at 5 months old his in the freezer processed weight was 3 lbs 9 oz. He actually had a surprisingly good amount of meat on him, not as much bone as I suspected once we finally made some soup out of him.

I got two 3 week old pullets 3 weeks ago and am already impressed. They are the friendliest chicks and actually seek me out to "talk" and run toward me in the yard. They also let me pick them up, camp out on my lap and aren't hand shy. My buff orpington is very social and friendly now but she wasn't at that age. I'm hopeful for some nice big eggs in a few months. As someone else mentioned though - they eat allot!!

Beautiful!!!! I love the markings on Bielefelder chicks, especially the horizontal eye line.

So, I might or might not have a Bielefelder cockerel!?! I think it’s my second McMurray order mystery chick. Looks like a Bielefelder cockerel. I’m not able to get a picture right now but will post one later today if possible.
I might be able to hatch Bielefelder chicks in the future! We will see......
