Bielefelder thread!!!!

Pics
Hey all! Been raising Bieles for 3 years now. I have found them to be a hardy, gentle natured and rewarding breed. They are my husband's favorite. I like them for their qualities and will probably always have a flock of them around. They are slow growers and without some extra supplementation I don't see them bulking up much on normal rations. However, they are a sustainable chicken breed so that is always a plus. Regular layers as well.
Hello, and welcome to the Bielefelder thread! You've had them longer then I have, so I'm sure that you will have more that you can share with us about them. Do you have any pictures of your flock?

The egg factory has been busy. Yesterday I got 8 egg's out of 9 layer's. One of my neighbors just brought me two 50-pound bag's of grower crumble feed in exchange for 4 dozen of my girl's egg's. I think it was a good trade.

I moved the chick's that I had in the brooder outside to the grow out pen yesterday. Here's my wild bunch 6 pack. They were full of energy in the brooder hopping and jumping all over in there and even hitting the heat lamp. I took this picture of them this morning. They are watching the hen that is on the outside of their grow out pen.

Not a clear pic but my silly roo, Lucky, hopped on the outside-the-run collection part of the nestboxes. He was clucking to a hen (Freydis) that was sitting inside the box. Soo cute!

All the chickens were outside the run except Freydis who had been trying to get in the nestbox. I had to shoo the other broody girl out of the run and close the run door to keep her out. So I guess Lucky was getting creative in trying to encourage Freydis, lol.

Then my broody girl didn't like that. She chased Lucky off (pic 2) and then poked her head in the window to try to shoo Freydis out of the nest box. Naughty girl!

So, you had fun watching your chicken tv channel, huh?

I went out to the coop earlier, unlocked the door and seen 3 hen's all snuggled up inside of one nesting box. I didn't have my cell phone with me to take a picture.

Indeed!! With the weather finally cooperating it's a pleasure to sit outside. I have a bench next to the run. :D

Sitting outside right now with my lunch (chocolate cake, lol!).
