I don't plan on getting ALOT of chickens but I have had geese since 2009. My first goose was an Emden goose "Downy" and he was my baby and loved me as much as I loved him. He only lived 9 months and something killed him. I immediately went and bought a white Chinese and named her Puddles. She is not nearly as attached to me as Downy and the next year I bought her a friend, an emden gosling I named Silly. Neither loved me like Downy but they loved each other... last year Silly ate a metal washer and I had no idea... She was being broody and she just died in her hutch. I would not put her down until I made the decision to take her body to the vet for a necropsy to find what killed her... it was the metal washer. Killed her intestines. I had to wait all summer until the next spring to get Puddles a new gosling buddy. I got a brown Chinese gosling. Raised it inside until grown. Named it "Waddles" but changed it to "Captain". Loved on it, brought it to work with me everyday (just as I do with Puddles, no I am not joking)...and yup...Captain hates me. Loves only men...any man. Hates me and any female. Wow.... betrayed... Still I bring them both to work. (at the stable) I keep my rooster and my hen at the stable. I had a RIR and a Peking duck but my dog killed them when they tried to attack her (that is what I think happened) I really miss my Gill and Sammy... I now just have Eva the black hen and my Paint Silkie roo. I want more Silkies though... Hoping for Paint but that color seems hard to come by.
Oh, I have some pics for ya'll... Here is Puddles at my mom's for "ThanksLiving" Day... I told her I WILL BRING THE BIRD. (and no meat at the table please) ... (they had Thanksgiving the next day, I do mine the day before)
