One of my buckeye girls just worked out one of the biggest chicken eggs I have ever seen, here's the pic.

Amazing, isnt it? One of my big breeder RIR girls pumped out one that I thought had to be a triple yolker last week. Ouch!

Quote:My buckeyes lay large to jumbo also but this thing was almost twice as long and twice as wide as the norm, it was huge. And tasty, a full size + double yolker. Woot!

Wow, what kind of egg is next to it. That is awesome. How many Buckeyes do you have? Do they all lay like that?

My buff orpington didn't start laying until 8.5 months old and her eggs are jumbo even compared to my Barred Rocks the same age. Sometimes I have a hard time closing the egg carton. The funniest thing is she uses the same nesting box as my bantam silkie so gathering the eggs with the size difference is amazing

The smaller egg is the normal buckeye eggs, large to jumbo. The bad girl to the right is also from one of my 35 buckeye hens. If they all layed like that I'd feel bad, the egg was HUGE!

Not sure if that big egg is from one of my Buffs, or my Barred Rock-star. Lol Wink
