"Big Chicken"

I don't eat meat as a dietary choice, but I have no problem with those who do - so I would need to rehome the males, which can be challenging.
Use my solution with a twist. I went to Claudio (my butcher) and told him that my hens gave me six chicks and then another nine on top of that two months after. Out of space and he can have the roos for free. Done deal. All my black star roos will go off there and be raised by him. I plan to net two pullets for myself if possible and do the rest to Neuen for free. Solved.

The twist is you need friends to take for free if necessary and be okay with nature taking its course on that. You live in the USA, you could probably sell them quite easily.

I totally respect your choice. But Nelms is a great big cuddly sweetheart and Nightwing is a mimic - he has incorporated the sound of my squeaky cabinet doors into his rooster growl. Plus, I'm a great big softie who spoils all of my animals terribly. That being said, I have a friend with a legit operational farm, so my Plan B is to reach out to him if rehoming is required. (My town only permits a maximum of 6 backyard chickens.)

Oh, those boys have a chickenality already. Only hope there is showbiz or raising a family on the old homestead. I hope you find a great place for them.

Love "chickenality"! They are so fascinating - and I'm a great big science nerd. šŸ˜‹
