Thanks Hoosier, I can't wait to see the expression on the other girls faces, when the newbies are well enough to be let out properly into the fresh air...can you imagine 50 hens storming out of the stables...Ok were out!!!!!! then shouts of cluck cluck whats that green stuff!!!! they have never seen grass....will have the camera ready it will be a fantastic day for them and me.

Best of luck!

They may very well be afraid of straw, grass, and all things "normal" for a good while and be hesitant to leave their coop. I personally would put them in boxes so they can't pile and suffocate each other just in case they get spooked in the back of the truck. Either way, good luck brining the babies home!

We've done it with 30 birds for a 45 min. trip.

There were about 3 maybe that went to the edge but we got them before they jumped off.

I don't see anything wrong with it.

Just makes sure everythings tight and secure.

me,

I seem to remember some BYC people saying that their rescue chickens just sat in the coop in the corner for a few days until they got their wits about them. It took a week or so before they could cope with "the good life".

Good luck English Chick!

I would be surprised if you have many wild, escapees.
Please keep us posted on this good deed. And, photos, please!

Bless You for rescuing these sweet hens. Wishing you the best wishes and good luck with your new girls. Keep us posted please.
