6 days until lockdown! :wee We’re going to be on vacation from the 1st to the 4th so our son (who, understandably, does not want to take a 10 hour car trip each way within the span of 3 days for hubby’s family reunion 😂) will be coming up to check in on the eggs. I’ve got a checklist on what to do and will be 24/7 in case he calls about them hatching. He’s going to do the candling with me when lockdown hits so he knows how to check for who’s going into lockdown when the other batch will be going into it while we’re gone too. He’s been so good with taking care of the chicks and chickens, so really hoping it goes well for him so he sees it as a positive experience. 🥰

Way to go eggies! I will admit I was a little nervous since we had 8 out of 21 develop from our first batch (which thankfully most were not quitters).
11/18 are developing so far! Some I'm a little uncertain on due to egg color, but hoping they will keep going! (Looking at you, Pita Pinta)
:wee

Developing eggs;
Egg #2 - Isbar - Greenjay - Popsicle
Egg #3 - Pita Pinta (Red) - AinaWGSD - Bread Pudding
Egg #6 - Barbezieux - Clickitychick123 - Mint Chocolate Chip
Egg #7 - Barbezieux - Themellowyellows - Eclair girl, Flan boy
Egg #8 - Ayam Ketawa - ClickityChick123 - Whipped Cream
Egg #9 - Belgium Liege Fighter - Bigdumogre - Waffle
Egg #10 - Schinjdelaar - CrazyForMyPeeps802 - Cheesecake
Egg #11 - Houdan x Turken Cross - BlindLemonChicken - Crème Brûlée
Egg #13 - Houdan x Turken Cross - Chickenpoonumber2 - Funnel Cake
Egg #14 - Houdan x Turken Cross - Slothinc - Marshmallow
Egg #18 - Houdan x Turken Cross - TwoCrows - Sorbet

I’m trying to, for the life of me, figure out how these sweet eggs keep quitting around week 1-2. </3

Popsicle, Bread Pudding, Mint Chocolate Chip, Eclair/Flan, Cheesecake, and Marshmallow are all still developing, so 6 potentially for lockdown.

It looks like all the Turken crosses stopped shortly after the last candling. I am quite meticulous about washing my hands after each candling and not over-handling, and we don’t have wild humidity jumps and temp always has been 99.5. I also make sure my hands are bone dry after washing before handling for the candling. I wonder if there’s temp. surges I’m just not seeing, or if it’s shipped eggs possibly quitting more commonly than gathered eggs. Heck.

I am really excited for them though, and really hope all 6 make it out. 🤞
