We have three Mallards- 1 Drake and 2 hens. The drake favors Al, the big hen, and Fish, the little hen, is more of a loner. About a week ago I got 2 ducklings- a Pekin and a Cayuga. Fish seems to like hanging around them and nibbles on their legs and tails. I wasn't around very much on their first meeting, but my sister was watching them. They are out there now (supervised)and I was watching them and wondering if Fish likes the duckling because she can boss them? She kind of weaves her head back and forth and opens her beak and comes towards them. They don't seem concerned and keep coming back and Fish could kill them if she wanted to but isn't... I guess I want to know if this normal or what to expect when they meet. Bert ( the drake) and Al are not allowed around them because I didn't like the way Bert acted.
Oh, and appearently Bert and Al punished Fish after the first meeting by throwing her to the ground. Again, I wasn't around, my sister was watching, but she said she was on her back with her feet in the air.

Its odd for ducks to be that aggressive to each other when its not male to male. I've never had a duck flip another one over. I'm not sure what to make of that part.

Now then, if fish is happy with the juvvies, I'd just leave her there. If you just keep an eye out for the next few days, they will probobly be ok after that. If your male is aggressive, you should consider making him live alone for a month or two, and leave the two females with the juvvies when they are older. Then, intorduce the male when everyone is settled, and the pecking order is in disarray.
