I was in our local Rural King this past week and saw they started using the grounds in with all of their baby chicks. I was surprised to see it. You would think they would know better if it is going to kill their chicks.I also want to add, DO NOT use it as chick bedding. It gets in the water, they ingest it and they die.
They don't care. I've contacted corporate and left reviews everywhere. Tsc actually said they couldn't share my review for legal reasons.I was in our local Rural King this past week and saw they started using the grounds in with all of their baby chicks. What a shame. I feel sorry for the people who buy them and they end up sick from eating the grounds. I feel even more sorry for those babies. They don't care. I've contacted corporate and left reviews everywhere. Tsc actually said they couldn't share my review for legal reasons.
You could if you have the ability to dry it.New chicken owner here - so forgive me if this is a silly question - but couldn’t you just get the free coffee grounds from Starbucks? How would that be any different from what they sell at tractor supply?
There are some threads around here of people doing that. It takes a good deal of work to get them to fully dry out in an amount that makes it worth while.New chicken owner here - so forgive me if this is a silly question - but couldn’t you just get the free coffee grounds from Starbucks? Previous replies on here are from people that did just that. It sounds like a good idea if you are going to go that route.New chicken owner here - so forgive me if this is a silly question - but couldn’t you just get the free grounds from Starbucks instead of buying them?
To update, I was in Rural King yesterday and mentioned the danger of baby chicks and coffee grounds. I saw some in their water. The worker told me that they got orders from corporate to remove the grounds and put in the large pine shavings. He was going to do it as soon as he was able. You would think that if some say the grounds will not hurt them that corporate would not have decided to change their bedding back to the shavings. TSC got rid of their shelves for chicks and ducks this year too and have them in the large bins with lights and shavings. I was glad to see that yesterday too. They don't care.
