big open wound on my chicken

I would recommend applying diluted iodine my chick has just had a massive open wound and I washed it with dilute iodine once a day and seperated her to avoid anything entering the wound or any other chickens affecting the wound! If it doesn’t start healing take her to the vet if she is happy they may say leave it but if it is really open they could stitch it together?

I don’t recommend using any purple spray untill the wound has healed as this can cover up the wound and effect how visible it is to you! Which could hide infection dilute iodine isn’t coloured and is a very strong antibacterial should give the right resulthope she is okay

A raccoon was chasing my birds around the pen about a week ago - I heard it immediately and drove it off with a slingshot (and all the chickens seemed fine). But apparently he had bitten a very prized hen in the abdomen. Out of sight to me she became infected and then abscessed inside. Yesterday the absess broke to leave a huge open area infected with fly maggots - so I've been dealing with that since.

She is now isolated; I think I've gotten all the maggots after extensive cleaning, soaking, picking them out, cleaning with peroxide and treating with Blu-Cote (for now). However the muscles of her gut are exposed. The open wound is as big as a silver dollar and is surrounded by a lot of dead tissue.

Should I take her to a vet to have the wound properly cleansed, trimmed and then stitched up, and to treat with antibiotics?
