We have a mixed flock of 8 week olds, 16 pullets and 2 cockerels.
Pullets are: EEs, Delawares, Welsummers and one Jersey Giant.
Cockerels are: 1 Jersey Giant, and 1 Delaware.
I have a couple of questions:
#1: Is two too many when it comes to Roos in a flock this size?
#2: Will a Jersey Giant hurt our hens? He is GIGANTIC already.
We are tossing around the idea of a "extra large breed" coop and pen and segregating by size, mostly because our ten year old daughter has caught chicken fever and is in love with all of them. How many ladies would our JG need to keep him happy and the girls safe?
Any experiences, ideas would be greatly appreciated.
