My mom has goats and their milk is supposed to be much tastier than cows and fine for lactose and tolerant people. Goats are very nice.

I am so afraid of horses lol......I have no idea why but I am. Cows on the other hand are big too and given the chance they could hurt you as well so I see where you are coming from.

P.S. I am 6'4" 245lbs and spent 10 yrs in the Marine Corps, been in what most people would consider a hostile environment and would still rather be there than next to a horse

I think it shows great common sense to be fearful of bulls, they are the most dangerous animals there are on a farm. They can be fine for years, then have one bad day and squash you like a bug.

Jerseys are the sweetest and smallest of the milk cows, and have higher butterfat in their milk. Look for a nice cow that has been milked previously, maybe getting a little old for commercial production. She will give you plenty of milk for your family. And you will fall in love with those big, beautiful brown eyes and fake looking eyelashes.

You could always get a mini jersey. I came across these a few years ago. I'm torn between one mini jersey or a few goats...hmm... decisions, decisions.

I imagine that this quality helps one to be able more easily and with less guilt to convert said cow into tasty t-bones and ribeyes.

Regarding fear of horses.... I think the best horsemen (and women) have a healthy respect for a horse's ability to cause serious harm. Not that the horse means to, but they aren't machines, and when they spook, or get their hormones up, or haven't had sufficient ground training, they can certainly be dangerous. Someone who doesn't know the horse and doesn't have experience working with them is intelligent to be cautious around them. The nations newspapers too often carry stories about people dying from accidents with "bomb proof" and "well trained" horses.
