My first Golden Comet Emma has laid big beautiful brown eggs from day one, altho my second batch of same breed and only a month give or take a few days age wise are laying small eggs. I just find it odd given there all the same breed any ideas. What one gets they all get for treats and food.

They usually lay smaller eggs when they start, then the eggs get bigger in time. That's why the term "pullet eggs" -- they are pullets til a year old, then they are hens.

One of my girls, hatched on April 10, 2010 has been laying for about 2 months now, and her eggs are HUGE! We have gotten quite a few double yolkers from her. My other young ones, about the same age as her, are laying smaller eggs than my 1 yr old hens.

Yeah, my girls never layed "pullet eggs".....no soft eggs, no small eggs. We were very lucky. And the other day I found this:
