Hi! My stupidity, mostly. I didn't moniter humidity at all --- ran completely dry incubators til Day 18, then added the amount of water that *usually* brings the humidity up to 65% - 75% and let it ride.
I think the 'no water added' first stages were 'too dry' and caused problems. The humidity in the room stayed around 35%.
Aren't the Campine chicks darling? They have the most 'exotic' down --- just like leopard-print!
Hi! I am quite enamoured with dark-skinned birds --- a dark-skinned splash is especially showy (NN or featherneck).
I can imagine a very large (Jersey Giant sized) blue/splash dark-skinned naked neck frizzled bird that lays green eggs --- ahhh, that's it.
