We want to rotate pasture between all our animals, hopefully eventually including the chickens. We're working on figuring out fencing and mobile fencing and the like...

BUT - my fantasy is to build a really good sized (like 10 by 16 kinda size) coop but put it on a flat bed trailer and hook it up to a pick-up or tractor and move it (probably no more than every couple weeks.

Is this ridiculous? I know someone who converted a beat-up RV into a really nice mobile coop and it worked GREAT. But I can't find any old gutted RVs for less than I could just build a new coop.

Any advice/ideas would be appreciated. We're trying to work out a whole new plan for pastures, different animals... It's a big puzzle to figure out! :)

I asked the guy who builds the Elizabeth coop if it was possible to build it with wheels, etc, with the bump out and he said yes. It's a good sized coop. I would have needed a tractor or truck to move it. We have both, so that wasn't the issue...it was the price. Super speedy.

Oh good, the only person I know who did this used the RV... In theory we'll have both a pick-up and tractor... so if one isn't working at some point (which is inevitable) we could still move it.

Thanks!!!

That's awesome! So good for me to watch. Thank you! Especially in my area I keep wondering if I wait long enough if I can find a junky hay wagon or something. I think the size would be just what I'm looking for.

Under coops a guy once built a coop on a trailer frame on wheels so he could move it with his tractor. I think you could do something similar. I am not sure what constitutes a full size coop - 18-20 chickens or 6-8 chickens.

I think I would find the most sturdy platform with wheels and build up from that.

Yes my first one is on 2x6 runners as well. (profile pic) I thought our lawn tractor would pull it Na ahh!

We rolled in on logs to get to its resting spot. I definitely like the wagon idea as it would be so much easier to move around. I need to go a little bigger than what I have and this looks like a good idea for sure
