Biodiverse Polyculture (USDA 8a Zone Pasture) - sounds better than "My Acres of Weeds"

Pics
Well, after 6+ inches of snow on the ground, which remained for days, and what is likely at least one (or two) deep freeze cycles before Spring, I've lost most of the pasture.

Going to have to tear up the ground and re-seed this year, not just over seed. Looks like I still have some of the sedges, some of the clovers, a little bit of a couple grasses, and some weeds the birds and the goats mostly don't touch. Trying to decide what I'm going to try this year. Will use some generic pasture mix as a base, "over seed" at the same time.

If anyone has thoughts, I'm listening.

I'm sorry. We're 8a as well here, but I just have a yard, no pasture.

Likely to order from either -

Hancock

NatureSeed

or

OutsidePride

or some combination of the three.

None have done so poorly for me I won't use them again. None have done so well I won't use anyone else...

and if there are others I should consider???? Please let me know.

I am definitely planting more lab lab, but only to grow in and thru a pile of old wood that I have gathered (and slowly breaking down) around the duck pond. Even if nothing eats it, its more attractive than a long wood pile...

(Or was it a little bit of everything, thus the thread title?)
YES. I have fescues, St. Augustine, bluestem, orchard grass, have tried several bunch grasses, and little bits of others besides. and that's just the grasses. Have (or had) four different clovers, sedges, worts, flax, sorrels, have tried buckwheat, sorghum, sudangrass, rye (annual & perennial), numerous flowering plants, and more other things than I can quickly recall.

Are you sure its dead and not dormant? Do you have active livestock on it now?

I cannot recall if you’ve tried bahia.
Yes, chickens, ducks, goats, turkeys.

and I'm sure some of it will come back - but its looking real sparse, and I have too many goats - they are putting a lot of pressure on what's left.
