Biosecurity for a chickaholic at the county fair

Oh my goodness..:p
biosecurity would be not going at all.
Wild birds can carry the same diseases to your place from another flock up the road or if your shoes came into contact with someone at a store who had sick birds..Chickens definitely transfer disease easily. I never take that many precautions. I don't think many people do either. :frow

As much as I know about biological clean rooms(20yrs exp) and the inherent awareness of cross contamination...it's pretty hard to totally avoid it.
I see cross contamination everywhere.
I never wear my coop shoes in public, or to another keepers place or the feed store, they still walk over the same door mats as my public shoes...and the shoes I wear to other farms(few to one) are carefully monitored not to track shit into the van or my yard/house. I don't go to poultry shows, went to one county fair and stripped when I got home.

Going to the fair seems like a risk/benefit analysis. Do I risk my flock's health vs the benefit eating some terribly unhealthy fair food. To me - is not fall unless I get some apple cider donuts and a funnel cake. Benefit > risk. So, I'll reduce risk as much as possible by following the great advice above.
