I havent raised birchens but Im curious for those who have actually raised the variety and know it genetically.
Since blue is thought to be best based on E^R and birchen is also thought to be best based on E^R and both being based on S/S.. The only difference between both a blue bird and a blue birchen based on E^R is the melanizer genes that cover up the leakage you see in birchens?
Or are there modifier genes at play that express the edging you see in the birchen's chest?
And the expressen of silver in the saddles, shoulders, and hackles in birchen, Is that due to the absence of the melanizer genes that blues contain to avoid leakage?
