Exactly... and I think a lot depends on setup, types of containers/pools, sizes and monitoring ability...

Myself, it's the bill paying ability that stops me, lol!
It's not been too bad . . but it was only for two little calls. .
But this is made for just a little bird bath size water hole. It wouldn't keep a big tank from freezing :hmm

You would need 10 of them for all your ducks!!:gig

Only 10? That might be underestimated, lol..

It doesn't burn me:idunno
I tried it out before I put it in the duck water and touched it to see if it got hot. I still touch it periodically just to convince myself it's not too hot

Sounds good then! And I would do the same thing! :gig

I went to a feed and grain store and they had a water heater you could put a waterer on top of it looks like an upside down , large ,cake pan with a heater inside. this type may work well . So far it keeps the water pot from freezing and it has been in the teens lately.
so this may work well for the duck pool. it must be put underneath though.

I would think it would depend on the size of the pool/dish. And I wonder if you can sit a plastic or rubber dish on it?

Thanks for all the replies! This is super helpful! I currently have a little plastic baby pool they swim in. I think I’ll start with the bird bath heater that was recommended since it’s supposed be okay with plastic. I currently only have 2 ducks, a Cayuga and kaki Campbell, so I don’t need anything so big.

:frowHope it works out for you.
