Bird enthusiast and new chicken mama

Hi everyone, I'm happy to have joined, finally (<--previous lurker)! I am a bird-lover and took the plunge to order chicks from our local farm after our family purchased a home that already had a wonderful coop and run! We are moving in just a few weeks and are expecting our first two chicks on May 20th, and the others on June 3rd. Two Australorps, Easter-eggers, Ameraucanas and Orpingtons. I've been studying up on chickens for years and am finally getting the chance to raise some. I'm so excited! Glad to meet you all! Note that the chickens in the pictures are the previous owner's flock.

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
You might want to consider upgrading to 1/2" hardware cloth. Chicken wire keeps chickens in and nothing out.
Remember their space requirements as well: 4 sq ft per bird in the coop and 12-15 sq ft per bird in the run. These are minimums. More is better. Especially when integrating new flock members.
