Bird feeder debris and free range chickens

I don't tempt wild birds onto my property, I have 2 cats that kill everything they can get their grubby little paws on, we don't do the bird feeder thing anymore because of that. And even with no feeder and those rotten cats, they're still here! I don't think they need temptation. My point was simply that one cannot control every critter that comes onto their property, and those like birds are always there. And, technically, the birds could be tempted by the chicken feed, which could draw in more birds and lead to that uptick in disease and parasites you're talking about. And the hawks. But, I don't imagine thats going to make you get rid of your chickens. The hawks will come regardless, and so will the other birds and possums and coons and foxes.....
