BIRD FLU 2022

Not all see all threads, so I take no issue with multiple threads on one topic. Though a redirect of sorts could be helpful.
Right, I don't spend much time on BYC anymore, just helping to spread the word, in case someone else is the same way. As far as education....we've been through this before. It's scary. But, you can only do what you can do. We had a scare here this past fall/ winter because wild birds were dying in States all around us, and parts of our State, from some unknown disease. It was not AI, they didn't know what it was. I'm not sure that they ever did know, but the problem seemed to resolve itself.

We will do as much as we can in the coming weeks, and follow all biosecurity that we can, but, as I said, that's all we can do, and although it's hard not to worry, I try not to freak out about it too much.

I’m thinking about adding garden netting to the top and sides of my chicken’s outside protected area. It used to be a garden but is now a wired, enclosed area. Its usually covered with a tarp in the summer but can’t do that just yet because of the stormy season just getting started here in Oklahoma. In its present form small birds can enter. We keep the enclosure as clean as possible from feed on the ground and dump the water thats available to the chickens daily. We also have ducks that have a partitioned garden as well for daytime use. None of the birds are free ranged and the ducks go into their separate, totally enclosed coop at night. All of our birds are pets and want to take any and all precautions necessary to keep them safe. What else can we do?
