Bird Illness in the midwest US

Thanks for posting the story. The illness sounds similar to mycoplasma gallisepticum or MG, a chronic respiratory disease that can affect birds and poultry. Crusty eye drainage and swollen eyelids are common symptoms, along with bubbles or foam in eyes. The state poultry lab can do necropsies on bodies sent to them, to help diagnose a disease.

Yes, necropsies are very helpful. These are wild birds and it's not something they are able to identify as of yet.
