Bird just flew into my window! Should I do anything?!

Well, there is a schefflerra in a pot by the window... (feeling guilty about it.)

Still no signs of life from the box.

Makes me sad. These cardinals seem somewhat uncommon around here. It is always a shame to lose one. I was so concerned about it because one of my tenants chattered on about a pair of cardinals that had made a home for the past several years in her yard. And there was some major construction going on in the lot behind her house which disturbed the birds, so they took off. But recently, her cardinals came back and she had to stop by the office and tell me she was so excited about it.

They are some of my favorite to watch.

We don't get cardinals here, but I wish we did...they are my favorate bird to watch...so pretty. I only get to paint them or applique them onto quilts:>) I hope it survives.

We have a lot of cardinals here in NY. Blue Jays as well. I am sorry about the bird but it happens. The windows are clear and they just cant see it. Very sweet of you to try and help it.
I had a phesant hit the side of my car once. Man, I thought it dented it for sure. The poor thing never saw me coming. I felt awful, but it happens.

I work in a big office building on a Military base with plate glass windows floor to ceiling. Last year a quail hit the window and died. We were all standing there looking at the poor thing through the glass when WHAM! It happened again. Then another and another. Within 10 minutes, 6 quail hit the window.

Now, we have lots of quail in the desert and I had been in this building for 7 years but never saw that happen before.

Suddenly, from the top of the building, came a very large raven. It flew down to the bushes by the window and searched until it found one of the quail and then it carried it over to the sidewalk where it began to eat it.

Long story short, the Ravens had figured out how to scare the quail and make them fly into the window where most would be killed from the impact. It was a free dinner.

We have an environmental group on the base so they came and gathered up the remaining dead or stunned quail and also setup those plastic thingies on the edge of the building to keep the ravens from roosting there.

Have not seen it happen since but that was quite a show.

Sorry, dd. I meant to say he was definitely dead. It makes me feel good to know that everyone was so concerned about him.

We had our office Christmas party that day. One of the atendees was our maintenance person who also does taxidermy. He told me that the birds neck was broken.

We have had a number of birds this year fly into our bay windows so may dh finally put a wind sock under the eaves near the window and it seems to be working.

No more dead birdies. I guess the wind sock scares them or makes them realize theres something there.

My family has a strange phonominon(sp?).
Our dogs like to stand up in the front window thus making it very dirty and anytime we clean that window as least 3 birds will run into it with in the day.
