Bird Seed as treat for Chickens?

Im just wondering if you can feed bird seed as a treat to chickens?

Absolutely. I may be wrong but I *think* chickens may be birds.

oh yes!!! When i go out and feed the bird feeders containers.. yup, got to give a little to the big birds (chickens that is). my ducks eat it as well.

I have been using bird seeds.

My local feed store also carries pigeon seeds. The seeds are larger such as whole corns and peas. Does anyone have any experience with them?
 
I have always made my own scratch and most of the year, wild bird seed mixes are a part of it.
Yes, most of it is low in protein but about the same as most scratch grains. The exception is BOSS which is high in protein.
