STORM PREP! Big Nor-Easter coming a day earlier than expected, soooo, we're battening down the hatches now:

1. Removing the HW cloth dividing wall separating my eight youngsters from the main flock. Their half of the set-up will be a muddy, windy mess by nightfall, so they need access to the large coop for protection. It's only been three days, so I'm concerned. I may pull the two young cockerels completely. They'll stand a better chance of integrating if they go with the six pullets, but I don't want them beaten up when I can't be out there to intercede.

2. Adding an extra roosting bar to the main coop so the youngsters have LOTS of room to stay away from the "Big Girls" & the two grown roosters.

3. Moving vehicles out from under large trees and removing potential projectiles from the yard and front porch - stacking lumber from a demolished swing-set and taking down tarps and flags - no sailing allowed!

Worked two dogs.
Started a large pot of beef paprikas' for supper.
Prepared treasurer's report for BC meeting tomorrow - don't know why it's so early in the month.
Will watch Penn State.

10am, back in field #2 bush-hogging.
11:25, field #2 finished. Heading to the hay fields to push back the overgrowth on the sides of the field.
3pm, hay field overgrowth has been pushed back about 8'.
Will crochet after dinner while watching TV with Hubby.

Rehomed honey, cherry jam, pumpkins, carrots and flower seeds.

STORM PREP! Big Nor-Easter coming a day earlier than expected, soooo, we're battening down the hatches now

We must not be getting much of it - my weather forecast only says about 50% chance of rain and light winds. I’m about 2.5 hours west of you.

I made applesauce cookies.
I helped out outside, with the siding and the trimmer string.
I will try to find something for dinner. It’s 7:30 and I’m starving.

It's hugging the coast and I'm right smack at the top of the Chesapeake ... we can walk to it.
This isn't expected to be huge, and it's moving quickly. It's early for a storm like this one, so we're not sure what to expect. Even my farmer BIL is unsure of this one - and he's a weather wizard! Regardless, the rain was supposed to start this evening, but it's been falling pretty steadily since just before two. Tomorrow calls for 94% and high winds, but maybe we'll get lucky!
