Bird seed

I see nothing wrong with feeding chickens bird seed, millet is very popular along with sunflower seeds, I have never fed my chickens suet but have heard birds like it very much, I believe it is made from the fat from beef loin and kidney?

Everytime my DH fills the bird feeders he throws a huge handful of bird seed to our girls - they love it! It would be interesting to watch them eat a suet cake - I just might have to try that too.

My chickens eat whatever drops from my birdfeeders........I haven't had any signs that it isn't good for them.........actually give some extra as a treat , especially in winter !

I couldn't think of a reason why they couldn't either. Plus I was thinking the suet might help keep them warm.

Any suggestions on a good place to buy cheap mealworms thru the mail?

Mine love bird seed. I bought a bag for them once.

Only two concerns.

1. Suet, isn't that a lot of fat?
2. Eating under bird feeders from wild birds. Parasites and such brought to your birds?
