Bird Shows in Texas?

Arcola Trade Day is coming up and I know I'm going to buy a few chickens and possibly trade some of my chickens.

I have no idea if you have to have a TAHC license to Trade chickens, my guess would be you would, technically, but if you are at a trade day they only check the vendors, not the buyers. So I would just go and then if you see something and they want to trade just do it and plead ignorance.
At Arcola and any trade day/sell they come around people set up and get your P/T papers and a copy of your TAHC license.

They may call it a Trade Day but I don't see a lot of trading going on. It is mostly people there selling.

I did not know a license was required......well guess I won't be taking my extras to the Trade Day; but instead putting an ad out.

I think the shows need to be like sports! Texas is a huge state and can be broken up into the original 5 states as regions. And then us Texans can go from there and possibly go to all the shows and have a state wide show that will have all the top birds from all the regions! What y'all think?

They already have shows that are statewide. The largest poultry show in Texas is in College Station in January. It is called the Bluebonnet Classic and it has a website.
There are a total of 12 poultry shows in Texas and they range from the Panhandle to Beaumont.

I am 2 hours from Dallas/fort worth area anyone around there? I'd like to see if the northtexas people can get together and make their own swap. Anyone interested?

I am 2 hours from DFW as well. I still have babies that can't be out on their own yet, so swaps are a ways off for me, but once my babies start to lay, you bet!

I would be willing to assist in promoting it. I have almost 10,000 community personal contacts on my networks, about have of which are in the southeast Texas but some are in the DFW area as well. Let me know what you decide to do & I'll promote it pro bono. I have attended these shows on & off for most of my 50 years. I grew up in rural Ohio where hwe had biug Tradin' Days in Lucasville OH which would attract poultry & other bird fanciers from a 500 mile radius....

The Brazos Valley Poultry Club Trade Day is tomorrow from 8-4 at the Giddings Ranch & Pet Center. I've never been but have talked to quite a few people that have and am thinking about going.
