I have lots of woodpeckers. Downy ,hairy, red bellied, flickers, and this spring I've started seeing the red headed woodpecker. That's a new one for me! That was exciting. I read online that they are on the watch list for declining numbers.

Sure sounds like it. and oh that's a good idea! I'm gonna do that on my next trip whenever that is lol well we're near the water so that's why i see them ha I love herons!

That's awesome you saw a new one! We have woodpeckers here too cause there's lots of trees but I don't know what kind

downy and hairy look so much alike its hard to tell unless side by side. I think this is a downy

I got a pic of the red headed but not uploaded to cloud yet. I'll show ya when I get to it! Ugh. Guess I better get off here and do something besides talk bird! I'm a bit bird crazy.

We get downy, hairy and red belied woodpeckers as well as the occasional flicker at the suet feeders. The pileated are too big to eat at them.

Awh I've never got to see a pileated! Loved woody woodpecker as a kid though lol
