Right!? There must be something in the food here :lau the other guy is handsome too but imo not as much hah he seems more cautious. This guy stands his ground and flares up, the other guy leads them away faster. Not that they necessarily follow. :gig

Our hens appear fairly tame too.

Yeah, I heard them last night in the woods.

Here is the other tom. He's more impressive when he's puffed up.

And I know I already shared the story so this is kind of repeat but I think I wrote it better/more dramatic on Facebook so I'd like to post this anyway :p

Just ignore the mention of pictures since obviously I already included them in a different order but yeah.

I'll put it quotes so you know where it starts/ends.

"So we've had turkeys hanging out here all week, as most of you already know, but now we apparently have a second tom. He's the one in the first and last pictures. I have dubbed them Red Face (new tom) and Blue Face (original tom). Red Face only has 2 hens but I think he stole them from Blue Face since that one has 3 now down from 6. But as you can see, Blue Face is VERY impressive so I know he'll get his ladies back or win some more."

Now, I wanna know, who do YOU guys root for? :p

And yes, my Toms face turns a striking blue color when he displays! Super pretty!

Whoops, just noticed this part.

Wait so that's only when they display? So is it the same tom? Or different? The other has no blue at all I don't think even puffed up

I am no Turkey expert, LOL but my Toms face is only blue when he is displaying. When he stops it turns greyish or back to his normal color.

Thank you for the link...now I know!! LOL I had no idea it was an emotional thing, I thought it might be hormonal. I am waiting right now for my group of Turkeys to come for their morning seeds. I through some out there just now and a couple of sparrows and cowbirds are eating it.

No problem! LOL I had no idea either! Pretty interesting :) and LOL I hope the turkeys come over soon!

I had a dream I was driving along a road and saw like "6 1/2" moose :gig there were 3 or 4 on one stretch of the road standing there then some more later on. One of them was a moose with one or two baby moose. Then I also saw a huge male walking down the road going the opposite direction with a female and two babies in tow. And right after I sae the initial 3 moose I saw a black bear and two cubs. Also saw deer and then the other moose. I raced back to wherever I was and told my parents lol

I wish that dream was real :lau

The Turkeys are here!! 4 Hens and I am sure the Tom is lurking somewhere! I just love these guys.

Sounds like a fun dream!! LOL We don't have moose down here but lots of Elk and Deer. Once in a while a Black Bear will stroll through here. A few years ago there was a HUGE bear paw print on the door to the grain bin.

LOL I was nervous for days while getting the chickens put to bed or going out in the morning. LOL I am sure they are lurking all the time and I don't know it. Ha!

Awww that's awesome!! I love turkeys

And LOL oddly we don't have moose this far south either (Massachusetts) but they're in the northern New England states like New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, etc.

No elk, lots of deer. I don't think we have bear but the occasional one has wandered down from New Hampshire.

A few years ago there was a yearling the size of my dog up a tree by the highway. I think they shot him :/

Two Toms and 3 Hens showed up this morning.

I need to get some pics.

Oh I am so sorry about the bear cub! Some townships aren't very good at relocating big creatures like bears and such. Ours is pretty good and will take nuisance bears to another mountain range or on the other side of this one. A couple of years ago in the development next to ours, a bear was breaking into houses and such. I mean smashing through windows, through screens, just anything to get in!! LOL This bear accidentally turned on the water faucet in one house and flooded the entire place. Knocked over the refrigerator, all kinds of bad stuff. I hear he was very aggressive as well and after being relocated once before, I think they shot this one too. When people move into bear territory, usually the bears lose out.
