Bird watching

And okay I have another question which I don't know if anyone will be able to answer and I'll try Googling it.

But what type of song bird would make a sound almost like

Pew pew

And then a few really rapid calls right after if that makes sense

There are many variations of Juncos out there. Take a look at this google search...maybe one of these? https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1...42&bih=580&tbm=isch&sa=1&btnG=Search&q=Juncos

The Juncos that come to my yard are winter visitors only, they winter down here in the foothills and summer up in the mountains, although some do migrate. Here is the map of their travels...

Hmmm, I think it was probably a Junco now, thanks and thanks for the map :)

Pheobe's and Flycatchers make that sound. In my yard, I know when spring has arrived when the "Says Phoebe" arrives and I hear her calling "Phew Phew" really loudly!!

Click on "Sound" on this page and see if this is the bird you are hearing! https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Says_Phoebe/lifehistory

Hmm...I do see that this bird is not in your territory, but there are other Phoebes and Flycatchers in your area. :)

Hmmm not quite but it does sound somewhat similar. Guess I'll have to keep looking! I should also note I'm in Massachusetts if that helps

But it was fun to hear the different calls. And the cat went crazy :lau

I bet the cat sure did! My dog always goes nuts anytime I play videos or bird calls on this lap top too.

Do you have any ID books of your area? Merlin is an app you can load in your android, however it has a lot of bugs and doesn't always work. But there are ID tools you can use on Merlin to ID birds in your area. I have several books I refer to, rarely does a bird hang out in my yard without a good ID.

Yeah, I couldn't tell if she was being nice or trying to win me over to eat me

she kept rubbing all over me and climbing on me and rubbing on the phone, etc. I've played bird videos before for her too and it was hilarious because she was like watching the screen and stalking them/tilting her head and watching as they'd fly away LOL

Anyway, I think we might have some books somewhere, that's a good idea! I hadn't thought of that!

I'd like to start being able to identify birds and their sounds and stuff

Oh and btw I can't remember exactly which video it was just because he has sooo many but if you search "video for cats" or something like that on YouTube this guy Paul Dinning should pop up, he has a series called I think "Videos for Cats to Watch" and it was one of those I put on. She didn't really seem to like the squirrel one but she was fascinated by the birds and he has all sorts of different videos. I like it because it's not just good for the cats - the photography is just absolutely beautiful so we can appreciate it too. Though of course not for 7 hours LOL but ya.

I am pretty good IDing visually but I have a hard time with sounds. At least for IDing the bird. Once I have seen them around enough or at the feeders I can ID them from their calls.

Our cats loved watching TV. LOL Our dog is too smart and will look at me as if to say "do you think I am that dumb to think TV is real? :lau
