Hello from Port Orchard, WA!

Never thought or dreamed of living on a farm but here I am and loving it except for all the time I spend worrying. We have 11 hens, 2 roosters, 9 ducks and 2 drakes. Hoping this site will bring me the mental relief I need from worrying about the welfare of our birds. I worry about their water intake, their leafy greens intake, their bedding, are they warm and comfortable, etc!!

During the week I clean homes for a living. No harsh chemicals -- use only vinegar, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. No worries there!

Looking forward to all of your feedback!

Thank you!

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself right at home, and we are here to help.:)

Trying to keep in mind everything you have to do to maintain a safe, healthy flock can certainly be overwhelming at times. All of us here on BYC have experienced the worries and stresses that chicken keeping can sometimes present. But, don't be too worried; like @sourland mentioned, it really isn't that difficult, especially as you become more experienced. And now that you have joined our community, you can ask any questions or post any concerns you may have along your journey.

Be sure to check out our learning center when you get a chance too; lots of great info there!;)

Glad you've joined us and happy new year!

G’Day from down under Bird Worrier :frow Welcome!

I too worry about my gals; I think it is only natural and not unhealthy unless you let it go too far. I had a dream the other night that something had gotten in to the coop and was so very happy to see them all the next morning

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
