I just put down 4 of my birds..

They have been coughing / sneezing for the last 2 weeks and the last 2 days started to have a discharge coming from the mouth / nose...

do you know what could have caused that?

I inspected them after i put them down they where draining lots of stuff through there nose.
I opened there mouths and it looked like a bacterial infection on the back of they're throats, the throats were white not pink and they had what looked like boogers in they're mouths...

what could have caused this?
I do have alot of wild animals around but in the almost 6 years i have had chickens this has not once happened to me..

the birds i put down were,

2 BSl's i hatched one in febuary and one in march,
1 EEx that hatched in febuary and then one EE rooster hatched in may...

the rest of my flock is on medication... and i have no one else coughing..

ahh hanna - that stinks... hope you find out... and all is well with the rest of your flock.. especially that beige one..

fingers crossed for you!

My best advice for you would be to have testing done on one of the birds. I think a nasal swab would be all that would be necessary for diagnosis. That way you would know for sure.

Call your local government extension office and ask for the number of your state lab. Start there first.
