Sparrows and Jays are getting into the run for free food. Any ideas how I can modify the door opening so the girls can come and go, but keep the unwelcomed birds out? Was thinking of hanging some sort of screen about a foot off the ground, with the door being part way open. What say you?

Are you referring to the cage to the left of the golden pen? Take a few close-ups the suspect area when you can.

If you are talking about a pop door, maybe the clear plastic pet door covers with slits so the chickens can push through but a small bird would struggle. If you mean you leave the human sized door open, don't do that. Install a pop door for the chickens to use that can be fastened open and closed. If the birds eventually figure that out, well, then you get the plastic slat stuff.

Beaded curtains are what they use at the zoo for their lorikeet aviary. So, I believe they will keep small birds from flying through.
I just have no idea how the chickens will react. If they try and eat them or if the strands are prone to tangling, they may be a problem. And you will have to pass through with arms full when tending that feeder which seems annoying to me.

no matter what you do, you can't please everyone. Ever heard of curtain tiebacks?

I didn't realize you were posting for affirmation, I thought you wanted assistance. Apologies if I offended you by pointing out potential issues.
