Birds are invading!!! Help!

That is some good looking country side ...

So when can you send us some of that rain and even your fog would
do as we have only received 1/2 inch of rain this year and the norm
is 6 inches ..
1/2 an inch! Even 6 inches!! We can get that in a day! Wow...you can have it all, its not too bad up here in the hills but flatter land and Wales have had terrible flooding :( Rather cold and wet winter indeed, heard them saying its been the wettest winter since 1766! We'll be needing webbed feet here soon!

Well a 1 inch of rain would bring flash flooding here on a massive scale
but it would be good for closing roads .....

The funny part is we can see snow in the distance and that works for
cooling us off but today on the front porch it is 90F degrees with 2
percent humidity so it is fairly dry here ....

To scare the birds off you need movement. On the owl I just hot glued strips of a plastic garbage bag about 3 foot long.

You can try a treadle feeder, hen steps on board it opens so it can eat. It is even adjustable to weight of bird so bantams can open it but not little itty bittys. Someone has a post on how to bild one here in forums and you can buy one too.

The info you need is at end of the post.https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/842326/squatters-and-freeloaders

We have quail come in our yard, so far haven't gone and stole from chickens. In winter I throw out feed for them away from the run and coop. During hunting season we have a huge amount of quail hiding around the place.
They are brilliant! And i know just the man to make me one! Thank you! Although the only doubts i have are that as sweet as my little ladies are they really are not the sharpest tools in the box and don't seem very food orientated :/ but its worth a shot!

That's amazing! Would love to go to America! We've been lucky and not really had any snow this year a flurry now and again but that's about it, just rather dreich, however spring is here alas...albeit still very wet (and cold! only 6C which is what about 40F?).

It takes a bit to show them how it works, a friend has these and had them eating out of it by end of day. His birds were a bit odd, he said between the 12 of them they shared a brain cell IF they hadn't of ate it.

The problem with the rain here is this is one of the driest places on earth so the rain
will not soak in and just rolls to the lowest level and this causes mass flooding in the
low areas with out a clouds in the sky because it is raining over 50 miles away or
some 80 kilometers away, the funny part is just to the west of us is the great Red
Wood forest the tallest trees in the world but the huge mountain range stops the rain
clouds from pushing past so there is very little weather her mostly high winds strong
enough to blow the big trucks over during the windy season as our spring is called ...
