BIRDS LAY WHEN THEY WANT TO LAY!

Chicken Boo I agree with you. Some of the things that I have read on this could be hurtful to some. I'm sure that it isn't meant to be that way, but this is what this forum is all about!! This could almost make some one hesitate or maybe not even post a question. If you are tired of the same question then simply don't reply to it. Ignore it only answer the topic that are interesting to you.

Perhaps you've missed my point also..... I'm not discouraging anyone to ask, but at least have a basic knowledge and understanding BEFORE you ask.

Dont just post because you are too lazy to take the initiative to do your own homework. I've done mine and I dont appreciate someone trying to copy my answers....

I guess it is to each there own. I enjoy asking questions without any research. I do my research also. This is a learning forum..a discussion forum. Good communication is key in all this. I don't believe anyone is trying to take anything from you. You have a lot of knowledge. I have enjoyed your answers to all of my questions on other topics. I really have. This statement was sort of like a brick wall, and we will have this question again and again as long as there are new people. We can't put boundaries or limits on questions. It sounds like you are sick of this question. I also feel like some of the statements were making fun of people because they have asked this question. (Chicken Voo Doo!!) There is just no need for all that. Be Nice.

Good for you, doing some homework before you jumped in. I think what some of us get irritated with isn't the newbie asking about oddball things. It's a page of thread subjects full of the same questions over and over, by a bunch of different people.

When every other question is the same subject, it's obvious that the posters aren't reading any of the other threads before they post. How many times a day do you want to answer the same question? Particularly when that question is a very basic one, like "When will a hen start to lay?" or "How can I make my hen go broody?" Some of the questions that get asked constantly are things that are addressed in the stickies at the beginning of the section. Maybe more of us should encourage people to read the stickies. Many folks may not realize how much info they can get that way.

Thanks for understanding my point..... couldn't have said it better myself.

Since chickens will start laying according to Murphy's Law, I'm going to go buy a dozen eggs tonight, even though I've got about 10 eggs left in the fridge. That way I'll have over 20 eggs and then the 4 little moochers in the back yard can start paying rent.

I don't know, but it is said that some nursery rhymes were based on old folk charms. If that is true, here is one to make your rooster stop crowing:

"Oh, my pretty cock! Oh, my handsome cock!
I pray you, do not crow before day,
And your comb shall be made of the very beaten gold,
And your wings of the silver so gray."
