Midge: Yay! How long has your egg been incubating, Cheerio!
Gwynn: Keep us updated!
Penny: It's going to be a very good chick because of the Plymouth Rock heritage.
Audrey: It will be a good chick, but because of the EE.
Henny: Guys, ENOUGH with the fighting over which breed is better.
Basil: How's the essay, Kiki??
Akira: Ummm...I'll read what I have.

Sophia: Cool, who....SHHHH!!!!!
Marianne: Why be quiet?
Colonel: Oh, it's Annie's crew. SHHHHH!!!!
Marianne: What's up with you two?
Elanor: *Reads post and essay.Begins to hyperventilate when she sees essay*
First of all, Akira, you start by proper placement of vowels. Y is a vowel, remember, only in names (As in Pippyn, that's Pippy's real name, isn't it? Or Madisyn) Or at the end of a word. Otherwise vowels are A, E, I, O, and U. Repeat that with me. A, E, I, O, U. There are three possibilities for vowel noises--long sound, short sound, or no sound (Mostly e's)
Colonel: Great Mari, you got El started.
Quote: Elanor: Akira, I am shipping you some books I had from when I was a chick. Eggy's Basic Reading, Writing, Spelling and Grammar Skills, volumes 1-50, which will take you up from the alphabet to Pullets and Predujuce. We even have an extra set of the workbooks around, although they are from the previous edition...Sunrise's Diary explains why...
Marianne: Ellie, have you considered that she does go to school and she has teachers and probably has those books--or simaler ones--around? Note that she's older than you are. Don't patronize her, El.
Colonel: You don't know where to ship to, either.
Colonel: Yep! Now let me flashback the first day of school/school prep posts.Akira: Thanks, El. I'm on volume 10 of Eggy's, actually. I think we have set somewhere. Penny, can I-
Penny: No. They are mine.
Henny: They're under the stack of Pullet Place magazine, Kiki.
Midge: Colonel, do you go to school with the others? Do you guys still go to Streamflow?
Audrey: We switched. River Run was not working out.
Gwynn: Basil nicknamed it "River Ruin."
Basil: It was accurate!! Now we go to White Willow. It's far better. I made the varsity flying team!
Akira: So did I! And Henny too!
Audrey: I run cross country with Penny.
Midge: I play treat-ball.
Note: "treat-ball" is soccer with a mealworm ball.![]()
Quote:Elanor: Well, looks like they are finally fixing the bus issues. Our chick academy is expanded into five classes. Summer Academy chicks must have been born from May 10th to August 15th. Fall academy chicks birthdate should be from August 16-November 15. Winter Academy goes from November 16th to february 15. Spring academy A chicks are born from Feb. 15-April 1, and any chicks born after that until the end of the school year go to spring academy B. We are hiring three new teachers for the chick academy--Mrs. Cluckstern, Mr. Myland, and Miss Mayburge. We also have a new foraging skills teacher, Mr. Hayland, and a new Elective teacher, Mrs. Eastoon. We now have new attendance policies--for each missed day of co-op, students must take no less than 2 make-up sessions.
Rule UpdatesIn addition to last year's rules...
It is highly recommended that students Pullet level and up use lockers. We have assigned them based on proximity to classes, so you should be able to use it effectively. Please use only the locker assigned to you. You are required to lock it--you may use your own lock or we can assign you one. Lockers should be kept tidy.
The flight deck is NOT for use for students at recess, it is for flight team use only. The indoor perching and balancing course is only for that class.
Students riding the bus will use good judgement in selecting their seats and stay in the seat the entire ride, unless laying an egg. Backpacks are to go underneath the seats, or worn while riding, never on another seat. There is to be no egg song or crowing on the bus. Problem riders WILL be assigned seats. If a student needs to ride another bus then that assigned, a transferal slip must be signed by the bus driver of the bus he will temporarily transfer to and a parent/guardian . If a need to ride another bus comes up suddenly, a parent/guardian can give verbal permission over the phone. Students are expected to keep track of their items on the bus. You must be at the bus stop five minutes before your scheduled pick-up time, and be on the bus to leave from school at three-forty-five. Buses then leave at four-fifty-five.
Technology must be used in complete accordance with Streamflow rules. Any rulebreaks on the Streamflow technology will result in the same consequnces as if you did the same thing in the school. Cyberbullying, trolling, and flaming are not allowed. Keep in mind teacers have acess to all chat room archives and streamflow e-mail adresses.
SchedulesThis year, we will meet once a week--every Tuesday. This is from 8:30 Am to 3:30 PM. Sports meets will be every Thursday, scheduling depending on the sport. Supplementary tutoring is Thursdays, from 10am -2pm. If you miss a session, there is now a policy that you MUST take 2 supplementary tutoring sessions to make up for it.
TechnologyWe now have C-tops available to check out and take home. It is recommended that each student has a device they checked out or they own that they can bring to school and back home. Desktop computers are not efficient for this. It is recommended that you have a laptop or c-pad with a keyboard, or check one out. We need to register all devices used for streamflow work by September 9th.
Our website still houses all programs we use for school along with a 24-hour chat room. We have also developed an offline version of this site so you can do work without going online, and submit the work later. Each student will be reciveing an e-mail to login to the system [email protected].
Thanks,
The Streamflow Staff.
Marianne: "Riders will use good judgement when selecting their seats". That means Roosty can't sit next to Feathern anymore! Hah!
Sophia: I need to order some of those school supply packages! *Gets on computer*
Colonel: Sounds like the bus is no fun.
Marianne: We've always sat together three to a seat. This year you and one of us will sit behind the other two.
Colonel: *Picks up bus route map* We are on route 89?
Elanor: Yep! That's the newest bus.
Sophia: Hey, do we want the optional backpacks and lunchboxes? They are pretty nice...
Elanor: If they have laptop cases in them, yes.
Colonel: Do I need to check out a laptop?
Sophia: No, you'll just use the eggtop you brought from the farm. Elanor and Marianne have those two yolkbooks over there. Do you have a phone? You will defiantly need one.
Colenel: Yeah, I have this shellphone. I don't have a plan on it, though. I'll put one on when we go to town next week.
Sophia: Alright, when we get to school there should be cases of school supplies waiting for us! *Gets off computer*
Connected to all co-ops.
Welcome to coopschooling co-operative association chat room
Marianne_Henley: What is going on?
Pecky_Cluckerson: Absolutly nothing!
Emma_Cluckerson: There has been nooobody on!
Elanor_Henley: As soon as the others get their school letters I am certain that they will be on here.
Emma_Cluckerson: You got your school letter already? What does it say?
Sophia_Henley: Oh, the usual. New rules, new building stuff, new scheduling.
Colonel_Henley: It almost makes me excited for co-op!
Alarm clock radio: This is Eggie Strawnest with your morning yolk news predator report. Your source for everything local. First this morning, we have a level blue predator alert around the Cherry Creek and Triplend areas--a bear has been getting into garbage cans approxamatly at 5 am each morning. It is recommended that free-ranging should be kept between the hours of 9 am to 5 pm in order to minimize risks. Inn the meantime, cougar warnings for Feather Road and Plumage creek has been reduced to level green, however, it is still recomended that free ranging be...
Colonel: Um, Sophia, why was the alarm set for six??
Sophia: Because we are going to town today, and we need to catch the six-thirty barred rock bus out of here. After we get to town and eat breakfast--the early bird's special at Pecky's, we are all going to go seperate routes...here's your schedule.
Colonel
1. Catch 8:20 Easter Egger Bus with Marianne. You get off at 3rd street stop.
2. go to 3rd street hardware and pick up
-3 preimium pop door hinges
-Pop door oil (1 quart)
3. Walk down the street to the library, return books. Then talk to front desk. Request "Henley books", they will have a big stack we reserved by phone--there should be six books. Check them out.
4. Catch 9:55 Rhode Island Red bus down to Warner ave. Go to School district #28 office and drop off paperwork transferring you from Fir tree Chicken school to Streamflow. They will have you sign something, and then you are officially transferred from your neighborhood school to a separate district.
5. On the next block is Winston Avenue, and there is a Bakery. Go in and buy a bag of wheat flour, a bag of sugar, a bag of cornmeal, and a cherry pie.
6. Down three blocks there is a Chik-n cell phone store. Go in and renew our internet connection--yearlong package--and all of our c-phones--also yearlong package. Our coop ID is henleybackcountry7438.
7. Catch the barred rock bus down to Marlern street. The next block over there is an Egg white Cafe'. We will be eating there.
8. School shopping for the rest of the afternoon. We will all be at Corntown mall, over on East Marlern. You do not need any school supplies, they are being shipped to the school. However, you do need a flight harness,Winter boots, a comb warmer, leg and toe warmers, wing wraps and a scarf. Be sensible and buy cheaper brands. Brooke's Duct tape Brand comb, leg, and toe warmers are priced well and are wonderful, go for those is you can find them, they are usually in Molly's. Buy your winter boots a size or two big so you can grow into them and your leg and toe warmers can fit in them. Molly's doesn't have any good ones, instead go into pulletz and cockeralz 4eva. They have store brand shoes that are cheap but quite sturdy. You scarf and comb warmers should be purchased at Lucky Cluck, avoid Bargian Box brand. You'll want a woolen set of scarf and wing warmers that match with your boots, comb warmer, and leg and toe warmers. The wing warmers should have extra material and lace up instead of button up, the scarf should have laces as well so you can wear it multiple ways, and it should be quite wide and long. Then go to Wing world for your flight harness. Buy a standard one, that is all the school accepts.
Please, make sure this all matches.
We will eat dinner at five at Nest Pizza.
We will leave on the barred rock bus at seven, and be home at seven thirty.
Colonel:![]()
Elanor: That isn't much. I have a lot more to do.
Marianne: By your third or so trip into town you should have gotten the hang of it.
Colonel: You guys don't have a car?
Marianne: We just carpool with the peeps next door if we need it. So does the chicks across the street.
Colonel: It's probably time to change that.
Sophia: Maybe, but we'd only use the car once or twice a month. All we have to do is shop.
Colonel: But this bus buisness is a bit much.
Sophia: You'll get used to it. Plus, it saves time with all of us spread out.
Colenel: I'll need a suitcase to carry all that!
Sophia: No, just a backpack. Here you go. In it is your bus pass, your schedule, your food money, the library books, and your phone. C'mon, we need to get out to the bus stop.
Hazel: I remember when we had to get our blood tested!
Hedwig: I accidentally got blood on Mommy's shirt. :3
Buttermilk: Ew, Hedwig, keep that to yourself.
Pippy: This weekend we're going SHOPPING! That's the only part of school I like.
Bisquick: Where's the list?
Snap: *munching food off a paper*
Bisquick: SNAP!
Snap: WHAT?!
Bisquick: That's the supply list!!
Snap: OH! *dusts off crumbs* Sorry! Here *hands to Bisquick
Bisquick: Sakes alive....

Marianne: NO! WE NEED A NEW ROOF. I HEARD WE ARE GETTING SOME INSULATION PUT IN AND A NEW SET OF NESTBOXES LATER!!
BBSJ announcer with extremely over dramatic voice:
Annnd now, it's time for Earlybird's chickens' belated first day of school post! We apologize for the wait!!!
Alarm clock/radio: This is Eggie Strawnest with your morning yolk news.
Colonel: Sophie, WHY did you set the alarm so early??
Sophia: Because of school! Get up everyone! We have less than two hours before the bus comes!
Elanor: And it's all hurry. We need backpacks packed, feathers preened, and breakfast all eaten before the bus comes!
*Two hours later, the bus comes chugging around the corner*
Elanor: Okay, Sophie and I are sitting in front of Colonel and Marianne, okay?
*Chickens get on bus*
Colonel: It's so..quiet.
Sophia: I know, right? It's so nice!
Marianne: What are you talking about? This is the loudest bus ever!
Colonel: Well, much, much quieter than the field trip bus for the egg farm!
Sophia: Man, those hens were rowdy!
Colonel: Ellie and Marianne just have nothing to compare this to. They are jaded. =Sophia: Finally, someone who understands why I never cover my ears periodically on the bus!
*In beginning-of-school year assembly*
Principal: And we'd like to discuss our rule changes with all of you. First, as outlined in our school letter...
Colonel: How long do we have left of this speech, Ellie?
Elanor: Two hours and ten minutes.
Colonel: Does it always run this long?
Elanor: Yep. And it's the same every year, with like two edits per year.
Sophia; Shhh! I'm trying to listen!
Marianne: Shhh! We are trying to have a whispered conversation!
Sophia: Seriously--zip your beaks before we all get in trouble!
*Suddenly an outbreak of squaking, crowing, and loud clucks breaks out from the back of the auditorium*
Marianne: Looks like we weren't the only ones having trouble listening...
In the chicken's first period classrooms
Elanor's class
Mrs. Lorelenn: Welcome to Breeds II--focus on Heritage breeds, class. Breeds two is faster paced then breeds one, and you will be expected to memorize more basic information on each breed. I am now passing out my sylabus..as you can see, we are starting with rarer breeds and working our way up to common heritage breeds like the Orpington.
Colonel's class:
Mr. Mallard: Learning Duckese provides ample opportunities for communication with other fowl. Many birds learn Duckese because it is considered the bridge language between waterfowl laungages and domestic bird laungages.
Marianne and Sophia's class:
Mrs. Tweetly: Hello, and welcome to songbirdese II. Songbirdese is a beautiful language and a great one to learn. I am passing out an assessment to see how far you are along in learning it.
In Colonel's Fourth period clas
Mr. Foragern: So, roosters, you are expected to do this homework next week and we will have our weekly assesment next co-op...
Bell: BRRRRINNNNGGGGG!
Class: Yayyy!!! Lunchtime!!!
*Everyone runs out. Colonel digs around for his class schedule or map but finds neither. He follows the crowd and ends up...lost!
Colonel: Where am I? A-wing? No, Elanor said there was only Utility rooms in A-wing. What's the letter for the lunchroom? L? F? Or is it U? Why did I lose my schedule? Where can I get a new one? And where, oh where are those handy "You are here" maps all over the walls when you need them?
Elanor: There you are! C'mon, Sophia and Ellie found a table up on the lunchroom balcony where we can sit! Pecky Winston, Eggie Lornel, and Isasmella and Crowly Nrobern are sitting next to us as well.
*at the table*
Colonel: So y'all have been going here since chicks?
Pecky: No, I'm the only one.
Eggie: Most of us transferred from the public schools after the great lice incident.
Colonel: Ah. That was wayyy before I moved here.
Elanor: I can pull out someone's diary--Sunrise has the best story--and show you sometime.
Sophia: So how do y'all like your classes?
Walking home from bus stop:
Elanor: So how was your first day, Colonel?
Colonel: Well...I like school this year.
Marianne: Awesome!
Quote:
Marianne: Ivy, this was the first BBSJ flashback and now I am re-flash backing it so you can see it!
Columbine: Ivy? Ivy? IVY?
Rose: She's fainted!
Bird On Hand: Everyone calm down, stand back, and give her some room. Violet, get the smelling salts.
Columbine: We'll tell her the lice outbreak was a long, long time ago.
Rose: Once she's woken up, that is.
Bird On Hand: Where *is* Violet?
Daisy: I think she got distracted by a squash vine on her way to get the smelling salts.
Violet: This squash vine is really good, you should have some..... why is everyone looking at me like that?
Quote:

Quote: Elanor: Oh, good. No baths here, Ivy.
Colonel: Sorry, Ivy. didn't mean to scare you.
Daisy: (Scratching face with foot) "I don't think Ivy heard you - she's way over there eating mealworms."
Rose: (leaping into the air and beginning to fly to the mealworms) "So is everyone but us!"
