Bite on chicken

My beautiful Rainbow chicken was bitten on the butt. I am planning to wash and apply antibiotic ointment. And separate from other girls for now. She is resting in a laundry basket. Other ideas?

Pretty nasty but the neosporin should be no pain killer in it.
Do you have hardware cloth on the coops ?

Do you think the other chickens pecked her vent and made it bleed? Could she have had a prolapse that attracted pecking? Do they pick on her?

No our dog got to her. I am keeping her inside and the dog is at my daughters.

No our dog bit her. I am devastated! She flew out and I didn't know it. He is now at our daughter's and our girl is inside. I bought some HealXcel from Tractor Supply

I bought some HealXcel from Tractor Supply which has lots of good ingredients to help her heal. She is staying inside away from our other 3 girls right now.

The wound is serious. Since it's a dog bite, bacteria has been injected into the wound, and likely is in her blood stream. Any bite wound is a puncture wound and requires an oral antibiotic to make sure the chicken doesn't die from bacterial infection.

The wound will require daily soap and water cleaning, then keep covered and moist with an wound ointment. About six weeks of daily care will be necessary for healing. But it will heal.

She seems to be getting better each day. is eating and drinking and has laid two eggs! So proud of her. I know she is lonely and missing her friends but I believe she will be able to go outside soon. Just have to keep spraying her wound. Love this HealXcel product! I am spraying her 3-5 times per day. Thanks for the input!
