BITING!!!

Some people have roosters that cohabit the same flock, some don't. My mixed flock was able to support 2 roosters. My Pheonix flock no. Every year, my male would go and just about kill any young male who tried to breed with the hens. They were fine living there until they got puberty and then I had to move them along or let them get killed by my male.

It's a case by case thing

Yes well, our males aren't like that, our rooster is always welcoming to newer members even other males. Our rooster and the new 6-month-old rooster have never had a fight other than as we first introduced Effy (new rooster) which is expected in any flock...
Effy has even hit puberty and he has mated with one of the girls without a fight Blu would just stand back and watch

Keep your roosters in the same area if possible and if there is no fighting. If you seperate them they will no longer consider each other flock mates. (I learned this the hard way.)
If they aren't fighting and they aren't over breeding the girls 1:7 should be fine. As @aart said the 1:10 rule doesn't always hold true and depends on individual roosters.
As for the biting; I had one who started that last spring when I'd go into the coop. He was a good rooster otherwise, so a took a very thin stick (switch) in with me for a few days. Whenever he bit me, I'd tap him on the head as if I were pecking him. He stopped within a couple of days of this.
Good luck!

Yes, I've heard that helps the only concern I have is if I do that to him would he associate me with getting pecked then try and keep away from me? Will he not be the lovely, friendly rooster that he is.

Mine is still friendly with me. He still follows me around, begs for treats, and sits close to me. I've been lucky with roosters in general, but he is definitely the friendliest I've had and he is over two years old now.
