I've always heard some people give roosters a bad reputation, but I honestly will never have a flock without a BJG rooster.

My boys just chased off a flying predator without getting hurt or the ladies getting hurt. I was outside putting my dogs out and heard this loud noise so I looked towards the chicken run and I see a big flying predator get chased off into the woods by my boys. The ladies were all running into the coop and my boys were standing guard all puffed up, they even protected my ducks! Even the Polish pullets they hate!

Roosters Rock :yesss:

I'm quite positive it is probably a hawk because we had one attack when the BJG were a month old and I told the hawk to come back in 5 months. It tried to take my Cochin, but she got free and had pretty bad damage, but shes perfect now.

That s an amazing story! I've had a hawk try to take one of my hens a long time ago, and the top went running over, and chased the bird through the woods and away! Roofers do rock! Most of them.
I've had some really bad ones in previous years, I'm glad I kept trying! I almost gave up on roosters these two snuck into my flock. They were sexed wrong at the hatchery.

Take THAT you flying MURDERER!
:lau I laughed after I knew everyone was okay. I brought out my red nose pit in case it came back, she doesn't let anyone touch "Mom's Chickens." My husband trained her to protect them. The roosters use her as back up.
