Black Ameraucana question

As far as leg color is concerned, I noticed on the first AM chicks I hatched out they had some pink areas on their toes that eventually became slate. If the legs wind up looking greenish, you definitely have EE's. Pure AM's can lay green eggs, it depends on how good the breeding is. Of course better breeding, blue eggs. You can on occasion wind up with a straight comb in other breeds that have a rose comb. I know rose is dominant over straight but if both parents carry the recessive gene and the baby winds up with two copies then you wind up with a straight comb. I haven't heard of that in the pea combs though. Sorry to wander off topic, I find the genetics fascinating and wished I knew more.

Well this has a good outcome, the seller offered to give me a refund. She says she had no idea they weren't pure, that the pic she was given of that roo was from the original persons she got the eggs from. She says her roo looks like him, but that the rest of the hens are probably just black EE's and she didn't know it. So I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and forget about it all. I got chicks, it's all good. Will be interesting to see what happens with their leg color. Muffs are fluffing up more every day, that little white one doesn't have any though.. heh... might have to keep him/her just to see what he turns into!

It is not unusual to get a white sport on occasion from a breeding pen. I am wondering if this is the case with these blacks.
