I have been hatching like crazy and finally have turned off the incubator... at least until we move
Pen #1 Two wheaten roos over two wheaten hens and one black hen
Pen #2 One black roo over 5 black hens.
I have culled down to my very best until this Fall and have multiple brooders and grow out pens full of these guys. Im consistently getting nice short backs, clear white lobes, nice arched combs with even distribution of points and overall nice birds. You will be happy with these guys.
The wheatens have slightly better tails but are not as nice in the head dept. as the blacks. I am currently crossing the two varieties to improve the wheaten heads. Black in rosecombs is recessive so, the crosses should hatch wheaten. Im not sure how nice the color will be on the crosses but, one cross back to Wh should yield nice birds.
Im going to collect from both pens every day to fill the 2 cartons.. probably have 16 black and 8 wh.
