Black Australorop-- is this a rooster?

Thanks, Michael and Karly. If everyone can live harmoniously, I'll keep them together and see how they do. My boys might not get many eggs going for their new business, but if we can get some chicks and get some more hens going, next year should be awesome!
 

If it's "perfect harmony" you are looking for, then one roo for less than 5 or so hens is probably best. You could definitely house the extra roos in a bachelor pad together.

TaraBellBirds, I think the advise about the living arrangements sounds right. We can rotate the roosters as Papas until we have a good size flock.
 
Keep in mind that there will be a period of adjustment in reestablishing the pecking order every time you take the main roo and put in a new one. This may cause issues in the bachelor pad as well. Keep an eye out and check for injuries, as long as there is no blood shed they should be fine.
