Black Australorp broodyness

Wildacres.ca breeds Australorps. Breeding 2 blues will give some Splash! This is one of mine. Lovely calm birds.

Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has hoover hatchery Black Australorp and how broody do they tend to be. And any comments on black Australorp broodyness from other hatcherys also
Generally the australorp is not broody. Occasionally we experience one....not often.
I am not aware of a difference from hatcheries. I would not think there would be any.

Hi. I have many Australorps and believe me they go broody and they’re great mum’s. I’ve had 2 go broody at the age of 8 months old. I currently have 9 broody hens and 5 of them are Australorps.

I’ve had a few Australorps from different hatcheries, have yet to have any be full broody.
Had one or two last year that wanted to stay in the nest boxes over night, but lost the inclination after 2-3 days.
