Have 5 girls and 4 of them are laying eggs on a consistent basis ( RIR, Amerucana, Golden Sex Link and Buff Orpington ). My Black Australorp had a mishap when she was 21 week old. Notice her trying to lay an egg and it caused her inners to fall out of the vent. Had to help her lay the egg which was sideways and push the inners back in. After keeping her vent clean she did lay a couple more eggs and there is no longer any poop mess on her backside. Of course she stopped laying eggs which I thought would be normal due to the difficult first egg experience. Now after 25 weeks there hasn't been any eggs from her. I have checked all over the yard while the other do lay in their nesting box. Not sure if she will start laying again or if her body cannot handle it and stopped producing. I will keep her anyway just wanted to know if there is any thoughts on this matter.

If her mishap included a ruptured egg internally, and a prolapse ("inners" hanging out) often indicates a blocked egg, an infection could have resulted from the broken yolk inside her oviduct. Even if the hen survives the infection, she can become sterile as a result.

Another possibility, if she's around 18 months or older, is molt. Molt generally curtails egg laying until it's completed.
