I think you have a pullet. I am in a similar boat except mine is 12 weeks and you should see his crown...very noticeable! My girls look just like your Violet but their crowns (being 12 weeks instead of 7) are just a bit more pronounced but not by much at all.Meet Violet! She is 7 weeks old today is the sweetest thing ever!
Santa brought us 4 Swedish Flower Hens for Christmas, but two of them ended up being roos and one of the pullets got killed by a hawk. We decided to get a Black Australorp to detract from hawks and give our one remaining girl a friend. She was sold to us as a pullet.
Now, at 7 weeks old, her comb is turning pinkish at the base (in the sunlight) and tiny wattles are peeking through. She feathered out well and he tail feathers came in quickly, so we still have hope that she is a girl. But after finding out that 2 of our first 4 were roos, we are now hypersensitive to her development and worried. I've looked at many photos of Australorp roos at this age, and they seem to have a much bigger and redder comb than Violet, but I thought I'd check here for some opinions and reassurance. So, what do y'all think?
