Black Australorp Preening

I have 4, 5 wk old chicks and they are keeping their feathers so very nice with all of their preening... except..... my Black Australorp who doesn't preen much at all... She is happy and healthy, but she doesn't preen much to get that coating off of her feathers. Is this typical to the breed, or should I do something to urge her on to better habits?

are you sure its a girl? I have noted that my girls preen much more and bath more than the boys who preen and bath less . unless there is a problem with him/ her and their feathers they should be just fine

I have no indication she is a he... I think she will be fine, but I didn't know if it might be a breed thing...

Now that Edna's feathers are coming in fast and furiously, she is preening more... yeah!

maybe she is like a girly girl who is way to pre occupied with preening rather than hair, clothes and makeup lol

If she is anything like her namesake, my grandmother... she will be expecting family to come in and preen her on her deathbed... hahaha.. never herself though.. hahahah
